COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks when repairing and maintaining the body of cars, heavy vehicles and other vehicles in the automotive service and repair sector. It covers the skills and knowledge required to repair and maintain the body of cars, heavy vehicles and other vehicles in the automotive industry.

Who can apply

Candidates over the age of 18 (including senior citizens) who wish to enter the automotive industry can apply. The target audience for this course is both domestic and international students and they must have the appropriate visas and wish to acquire the skills, knowledge, and practices necessary to find employment in the automotive retail, service, and repair industries.

Entry Requirements

Must be of a minimum age of 18+ at the time of course commencement.
Candidates must have successfully completed at least grade 12 or equivalent. Or completed studies equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification from an English language speaking country
Students may be required to undertake a few assessments of their Pre-Training Review (PTR) Test & Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test as part of their application process. Successful completion of LLN test is mandatory while applying for the qualification, before enrolment.

Packaging Rules

Total number of units = 31

17 core units , plus

14 elective units , of which:

8 units from one of the Specialist Elective Groups A to C below must be chosen
of the remaining units required to make up the elective unit total:

up to 6 may be from the Specialist Elective Groups and/or the general elective units listed below
up to 5 may be from a Certificate II qualification or above in this Training Package or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course.

Elective units chosen must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid vocational outcome.

Career Opportunities

This qualification prepares new employees or recognises and develops existing workers who are repairing, maintaining and remanufacturing the body of vehicles in the automotive industry.

After successfully completing AUR32120 – Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology students may apply for: AUR40720 Certificate IV in Automotive Body Repair Technology or other relevant qualifications.

Mode of Delivery

Blended (20 hours per week including 15 hours of face-to-face week in a classroom and an automotive workshop-based training and assessment and 5 hours of online study)
