COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who service, diagnose and repair electrical systems and components in vehicles in the automotive electrical service and repair industry. This course will provide the learner with the knowledge to apply inspection, diagnosis and repair skills of the electronic components and systems found in automotive vehicles.

Who can apply

Candidates over the age of 18 (including senior citizens) who wish to further develop their advanced diagnostic and technical skills can apply. The target audience for this course is both domestic and international students and they must have the appropriate visas and wish to acquire the skills, knowledge, and practices necessary to find employment in the automotive retail, service, and repair industries.

Packaging Rules

Total number of units = 32 

21 core units , plus

11 elective units , of which:

  • all 11  units may be from the elective units listed below
  • up to 6  units may be from a Certificate II qualification or above in this Training Package or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course.

 

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit for the qualification, and contribute to a valid vocational outcome.

Learners who successfully complete this qualification may progress into further studies such as: AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, AUR40620 – Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology or other relevant qualifications.

Mode of Delivery

Blended (20 hours per week including 15 hours of face-to-face week in a classroom and an automotive workshop-based training and assessment and 5 hours of online study)
