This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of tasks related to servicing and repairing air conditioning components and systems of cars and heavy vehicles within an automotive service and repair business. During this course you will be trained to diagnose, service, and repair air conditioning and HVAC systems. On the successful completion of the course, you can apply for your ‘AAC02 – Refrigerant handling licence – qualified persons (Automotive air conditioning licence)’ with the Australian Refrigeration Council.
Candidates over the age of 18 (including senior citizens) who wish to enter the automotive industry can apply. The target audience for this course is both domestic and international students and they must have the appropriate visas and wish to acquire the skills, knowledge, and practices necessary to find employment in the automotive air conditioning service and repair industries.

Elective units chosen must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid vocational outcome.
This course provides the skills to begin working in the automotive service industry. Automotive air conditioner technicians work in a range of fields, including mining and private business and future work areas including electrical circuit systems, welding, soldering, thermal cutting and heating.
